Re Watching the classics

I am a avid TV watcher both now and then. I just recently watched the chappelle show after I want to say 3 years of never seeing it and I am laughing at it like its my first time. Not every show can be watched over and over again to the same effect. But the time between watching is different between shows i have noticed. Shows that rely on jokes that have HUGE payoffs like sketch comedies(mr show, snl, chappelle show etc..)or seinfeldesque or Simpsons show where the punchline is pop culture in itself. Shows like star trek and dramas are infinity hard to rewatch as the crux of the show is the beginning and the end and the suspense of getting from point a to B. Knowing what will happen up front kills the suspense for me making the show hard to get into a second time. I figure any show that is awesome should be least ready for reviewing in at least a year and gets better every year after.

Baseball is fun...right?

Let me start by saying I love baseball I always have. I loved the yankess and baseball as well long before I even know how football was played but alas even with that history I am a football guy first and a baseball guy second. I realize that baseball what is still the recognized as the national pastime can be slow and boring and a bit overwhelming with its rules and procedures. I am of the mind that baseball suffers from 2 fatal flaws which are coincidentally its greatest traits. Firstly the fact that baseball demands a working knowledge of the game it inspires passion that only soccer can match. The thing is as with soccer most people do not have the working knowledge of the game. Other then strike out and home run most people will not see the skill of the sac bunt and moving runs over and bullpen management. this stuff is not entertaining in the casual way footballs run throw hit dynamic is. You can not tell the diffrence between a cover 2 or a 46 you will enjoy a tackle and if you do not know a shotgun or a I a touchdown is a touchdown. The second reason is the fact that baseball is taught not picked up. This means that you cant be taught baseball on the drive to the ballpark it takes years and a patient teacher(dad or grandfathers normally)I suspect football is learned by most people during a superbowl party or in a social situation football is on(bar,party,etc..) I think the fact that baseball requires the skill and the effort that its impossible to do anything casually let alone follow it. I am a fan but I will admit that I watched 0 pitches of the world series this year and according to the ratings I wasnt alone.

My review of the BBC show "Luther" episode 1

First I would like to apologize as I been updating my blogs twice a week and this week due to travel i was unable to so for that I am sorry. OK with that out the way time to get into the review of episode 1 of "Luther"

I want to start this by saying I am not the biggest fan of Idris Elba the star of this show. I feel his American stuff is heavy handed and poorly acted. With that said and having seen this show I believe that he can act when he is allowed to speak in his accent and when written for. Obviously this is the first show of a series and Theres alot that can go wrong but from what I saw that will be hard to do. This show is awesome and without spoiling it Luther is obsessed and at home in the process of solving murders or the solution more like it. When he is "ON" he is laser focused on the task but with that focus the rest of his life is left to fall to waste. The interactions he has with everyone from his estranged wife who is trying to move on from the man she loves but knows she will never be able to compete with his obsession. Also he interactions with the killer(yes your aware of who did this pretty early as its less about who and more about catching the person. This interaction he has with this person is fantastic as he seems more comfortable sparring with this sociopathic genius who loves creating scenarios as much as Luther loves solving them. I enjoy the fact that he so wants to have a normal life with his wife yet it is obvious to anyone with eyes that he can,t relate with people in a way where that will be possible. I am hoping to see where this show goes to see the progression of the cat and mouse game and juxtaposition of who is cat and who is mouse. I hope you love this show as much as I have at least give it a shot and let me know what you think via comments or email.

I love a 80,s era monatges sooooo much that i wrote a blog abouut it

Anyone who watched a movie in the 80,s or loves the genre of 80,s movie knows what a montage is. If you are unaware of what a montage is then let me explain to you what it is. A montage can be any length of the movie that has a theme song playing throughout it and a common theme. Sometimes this is silent and the story is told through wacky or solemn music and facial clues. Sometimes you get some dialogue filled with wacky banter or heartfelt tears and words. I love this so much that I break my life into various montages as they are a great vehicle to describe what’s going on with you. I will give my top three montages that can express the general feeling and situation I am in without going into it.

1#the everything is going great montage aka the making all the sales and winning the girl of dreams
This one is the one they play when the hero of the movie is at the stage he worked to get to. This could be being popular and sitting with the cool kids or learning to read. This is used when I get paid mostly as this montage involves the sub montage the "shopping montage" this one is where you spend tons of cash remaking yourself for a girl or to win a bet that you will be some chick. This montage is great but will always lead to the

2#getting fired and catching your wife cheating on you the same day or lost sight of what’s important montage

This is the low that always follows the high as you get brought back down to earth. This is more times than not when your new popular girlfriend and friends who are with you for the wrong reasons leave you for losing what you had or your old dorky friends won’t talk to you for ditching them as soon as you made it. This is followed by a slow sad walk as a sad song plays as you remember the good times. This can also be called the

3#the going to a new place or Eddie Murphy is in L.A montage

I have seen several Eddie Murphy movies where he is in a L.A sees something wacky and 80,s strange and does his laugh. This is used in fish out of water stories where the hero is making an "orly?" face as some high tempo music plays to frame the wackiness.

I hear yea but I am still not going to see your movie

Yeah i can see that you are showing me wacky clips and behind the scenes scoops but I still have no desire to see what you have made. Why do I take such a Harsh stance to such a mundane thing? The reason is I don,t like the heavy hand especially when it comes to my entertainment. I will use two movies which came out recently with two very diffrent results

Poor poor mcgruber the movie that was marketed to be a word of mouth monster but forgot to secure said mouth to pass ont he words. It was not due to lack of trying though tons of random commericals with a voiceover that alluded to naughtiness unseen. I guess they thought if they made a comedy raunchy and made a handshake deal with america if they paid to see it they would get to see said naughtiness. Well it failed and failed hard which is based mostly to the core audience of mcgruber owning computers and a working knowledge of bit torrent. To my point I dislike having my spare time strong armed by a marketing exec who thinks all I need as a nerd is the promise of profanity. in the immortal words of willy wonka "you lose good days sir.........I said good day"

And for ever Mcgruber that attempts to force me to be in on the next big thing there is a Iron man 2 which is a legit big thing without one word being said. The marketing of a movie like this is extreme it includes tie ins and wacky behind the scenes clips and articles that give a controversial tidbit about the star. This is not counting the millions of commercials both cryptic and spoilerish. This bothers me slightly less then the slight of hand marketing that movies like mcgruber employ as I can understand hedging a 500 million dollar bet with agressive marketing.

Re-alchohol ad super men

I have a update on the chuck norris-faction on booze ads this one comes from skunky ass keystone light.

Yeah this douchbag is "always smooth" unlike the shitty beer he hawks. This guy talks women out of trees like cats and other nonsense scenarios that he gets into. Like the most important man ever and john jameson before is known to do the impossible as easy as you and I breathe. It seems the only thing Keith Stone can,t do is make shitty keystone and shitter keystone light taste good.

Shoptalk(I only buy my Booze from Chuck norris)

I notice that in the last year or so We have had a shift in booze marketing to a either Bro-centric approach with the scruffy faced dude with his polo and cargo wearing buddies. This approcah is High on the high fives and hanging out with your dedicated group of bros and drinking beer defined in the most specific of ways. This approach doesnt bother me as much as wonder
if there is groups of bros with a token black bro who scour the landscape for beer and cool ways to get beer

Example the coors light guys-who love to bro out at press confrences and games in press boxes

Next one is the most odd to me. Its the Guy who is superhuman in the chuck norris whose tears cure cancer sort of way. It started with the most intresting guy ever who lives vicariously through himself and He once taught a German shepherd to bark in Spanish. Ok while I enjoy outragous shit as much as anyone but how does this make me want to inbibe dos equis? Apprantly it works because the jameson irish whiskey folks have come up with a dashing hero who can show u at his own funeral with whiskey jugs he dived into a hurricane to get.I don,t know what it is about
stopping a stampede of horses and getting them to plow your barley field or When it is raining, it is because he is thinking of something sad that makes people want to get drunk but it does i guess.
